Last Thursday, the ‘80s Pioneers’ performed in Leipzig at the 60th birthday party of Steffen Göpel, former GDR racing driver and real estate entrepreneur. The event brought together a cross-section of German stardom from sports, film and music: Michael Ballack, Veronica Ferres, Jan Josef Liefers, Anna Loos, Franziska von Almsick, Katarina Witt, Harold Faltermeyer, and so on. Quite impressive.

Our set included a mix of Spandau Ballet, T‘Pau and Cutting Crew classics. We had the great honour of meeting the wonderful Katarina Witt (German former figure skater and Olympic champion), Karsten Speck (German actor and TV host), and the legendary Harold Faltermeyer (German musician, composer, and record producer – best known for composing Axel F and the Top Gun Anthem) and his wife Birgit.

A special thank you to Matze, Susan, Ricarda, Jade and Richard for taking such great care of us throughout the event.

And of course, to Carol, Nick, Joe and James. You were absolutely amazing. Always a true pleasure sharing the stage with you.
